Whether you play on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Switch or mobile, 2021 is a promising year for gamers. And now that the PS5 and Xbox Series X have launched, we can all focus on what really matters: the games.
1. Halo Infinite

Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One et PC
Halo Infiniteis probably Microsoft’s most anticipated Xbox Series X game, despite the controversy surrounding its development. While the latest game in the iconic Xbox series – which promises to continue the story of the Spartan super-soldier Master Chief – has lost some of its key developers in recent months, Microsoft is clearly keen to make it the best FPS in history. And to ensure that, the launch has been pushed back to a date to be determined in the fall of 2021.
Infinite should be a more open world Halo game that takes full advantage of the remarkable power of the XBoxSeries S/X to create the ‘TacMap’: a special tool that shows you how to explore different parts of the Halo ring. If you’re looking for a great game, this is one you’ll want to check out!
2. Riders Republic

PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X
Half a dozen US national parks have been merged into the game world that you share with up to 50 other players. Choose skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking or wingsuiting and take part in a race, find your own challenge or just cruise at your own pace for a few hours. This republic for adrenaline junkies and esports players has few laws. Exceptperhaps the law of gravity.
3. Horizon: Forbidden West

PS4 and PS5
The sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn – one of Sony’s most popular new IPs of the PS4 era – was announced in June 2020 at PlayStation’s exciting E3 conference. Horizon Forbidden West continues Aloy’s story and picks it up after the events of the first game. Curious to learn more about the post-apocalyptic world around her, Aloy travels to the harsh American frontier. Once there, she finds herself in more danger than ever…
The new western setting takes us into the habitat of massive mechanical animals – including mammoths and alligators according to the trailer – and will apparently also focus on the underwater world!
4. Outriders

PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X
The studio behind iconic shooters like Painkiller and Bulletstorm, combines the best of Gears of War and Destiny into an epic sci-fi feast in Outriders. The setting is an ultra-hostile planet that you can explore at your own risk. With or without two fellow players, you can do so with bullets, loot and upgrades you plunder along the way, and the spectacular paranormal abilities associated with your class.
5. Hitman 3

PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S/X et Xbox One
Agent 47 returns, packing his briefcase with deadly gadgets for the most intimate and professional assignment of his career. IO Interactive’s sublime stealth trilogy comes to an end with Hitman 3, and the stakes have never been higher. Expect to unravel an international conspiracy, travel to insane locations and carry out a series of diabolical and complicated executions.
So far, trailers and teasers confirm that we’ll be hunting targets in a Dubai skyscraper, an old English mansion, a neon-lit Chinese city and much more. By the way, if you import the locations from the last two games into the new title, you’ll have over 20 playable levels in one game – all animated in 4K net and at 60 fps thanks to IO’s impressive Glacier Engine. A must-have for stealth fans!
6. Monster Hunter Rise

Nintendo Switch
After Monster Hunter: World, which was aimed more at the mainstream, the series is now ready to dominate the market again. With Monster Hunter Rise, the series switches to Capcom’s impressive RE engine (which in turn will also debut on Switch).
The new game has fewer loading screens, more open areas and new four-legged friends that promise to make the game more engaging than ever. Best of all, the series seems to have returned to its zany roots, moving away from the more serious tone we saw in Monster Hunter: World. It will be a hit with purists and newbies alike!
7. Gotham Knights

PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X
A new Batman game… without Batman. Because he turns out to be dead and it’s now up to the knights of Gotham referred to in the title of this game to stop the criminal element from abusing him. The characters in the game are Tim “Robin” Drake, Barabara “Batgirl” Gordon, Dick “Nightwing” Grayson and Jason “Red Hood” Tod. Each would bring very unique skills and gadgets to the proven Batman gameplay formula.
8. GuiltyGear -Strive-

PS4 and PS5
Guilty Gear -Strive- will be the seventh installment in the popular series, proving more than ever the technical wizardry of developer Arc System.
“The trials and tribulations of the series’ heroes and villains will finally be resolved,” Arc System Works said of the new game. By that, they’re making it sound like we’re coming to the end of an offbeat anime plot that’s been around for 20 years. And with flashy graphics and a fighting system deep enough to challenge even Street Fighter or Tekken, this could be one of the most stylish and impressive fighting games out there!
9. Resident Evil Village

PC, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X
There’s not really a number in the title (unless you look closely at the logo) but this is a sequel to the excellent predecessor Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. We see the same Ethan struck by a new tragedy and the culprit seems to be an old acquaintance from the series: Chris Redfield. Ethan follows him to the village mentioned in the title. This is in a – suitably mysterious and remote – location in Europe. Reminiscent of Resident Evil 4, which is good news. Good’ in the scarier, soggy, intense and terrifying sense of the word, of course.
10. Battlefield 6

PS5, Xbox Series S/X and PC
While most of the details about Battlefield 6 are still shrouded in mystery, we already know that the game will push new hardware to its limits and “focus on new innovations fuelled by next-gen platforms”.
Recently, we’ve seen the developer re-enter familiar territory with the two world wars (WWI in Battlefield 1 and WWII in Battlefield 5). No word yet on whether the new game will move to the Pacific, Vietnam or a more modern setting. But even if you don’t like the setting, you can expect DICE’s new title to at least be a brilliant demonstration of what the Frostbite engine can achieve on the latest hardware. Expect lots of stuff to destroy, realistic graphics and great map design!
